@IceKohl Winimage32 is what I use. After I write the image to SD, I place the card into the miner and power it on. The ethernet lights light up ast I remember but the Status lights do nothing. The fans spin up on high when the miner is powered up and they keep spinning on high. The fans used to spin up on high then spin down untill hashing began. But now they stay spinning on high and never slow down....

Tomorrow I could try taking a video of the miner when I power it up with the SD card inserted so you guys can see what lights are lighting up.

Perhaps someone could post a video of their SP20 when booting off of an SD card so I can see what the process looks and sounds like...

@coinminer Yes, tried a couple different micro SD cards. Want to try yet again with another one but need to pick one up first and I am broke for the moment.

@coinminer Lol, so many people try to get me to sell them Subs....... I bought them 3 years or so ago and my van has a specialized factory sound system and rear surround sound DVD system(which has the heat and AC controls built into it too) so I was afraid to mess with it so the subs are still in the boxes. Gonna soon be installing them in this car since it has a normal sound system(or lack of one altogether that is). They are W3 version 2's or 3's. I forget........... I couldn't afford the W6's like I really wanted..........

I have an Orion 8002 1600 watt RMS amp for powering them(I dont bridge the amp so it runs nice and cool) and have a Rockford Fosgate Prime amp NIB waiting for the mids n highs. Notice the Rockfrd is a Prime. Lol. I thought that was cool as I was so into the POS Hashlet Primes back in the day...... My Rockford Prime will pack more punch than those forever Primes ever did.............

@coinminer Good catch but I did unzip it down to the .iso b4 writing the image to the SD card. I pretty much use the same process I use when writing a Ras Pi image to SD card.

Great ideas! @coinminer

Also check your trunk for Gremlins... I Swear They Exist!

computer-gremlin.jpg

Maybe I should have thrown some food in the trunk along with the miner. Perhaps that gremlin would have eaten that instead of nibbling on my miner for the 10 to 15 minute drive to the other location. Spondoolies does sound like spoon but we use the spoon to eat with, we don't eat the spoon...... Lol...... Expensive lesson learned for next time.........

Uh Oh, I have 2 brand new 12" JL Audio Subs NIB in that trunk right now. Perhaps I should get out of bed and take a raw steak out to it b4 I go back to sleep.............

@coinminer I am now living at the location where I last had it working and I cannot get it to boot. I just dont get it. I am using the images from the Spondoolies site for the recovery. Not sure of the version number off hand. I had the latest version of FW on the miner. This happened around the beginning of this summer. I got frustrated by it and forgot about it for a while. Now I was cleaning and came across this unit and now it has me wanting to get this going again. I paid alot of money for this paper weight.

Also, the PSU is just fine. I have tried other PSU's and the PSU I usually use for this I have it now powering an X13 miner. It is an EVGA Supernova 1300 G2.

Has anyone here ever booted a SP20 off of an SD card? Wondering what the procedure was that you used if so. The Spondoolies instructions are very detailed on how it is done and what happens dureing the process of doing it. When booting off of SD, how does the fan sound and what do the status LED's and Ethernet LED's do? My status LED's do nothing but the Ethernet lights light up. I use Winimage32 to write the SD recovery and/or boot images to the SD card.

Perhaps I am writing the image improperly and that is preventing it from booting from the SD???

@xpyerr Thanx for all the suggestions. I appreciate the help. I am pretty good at figuring things out. I even tried connecting up a Jtag programmer I have to see if I got any readings and nothing. It could be that I am not using the USB Jtag tool properly as I am not too experienced using it. I used to use Jtag to hack cable modems to get super fast speeds when the cable company wasn't offering them..............

No screws came loose and shorted. I checked........ I am stumped too......... I just noticed that @coinminer has a SP20 listed on Cryptolayaway. I am thinking about offering him some Script miners in trade possibly if he would be up for it...... Then I would have a known good miner with a known good controller which would allow me to do some testing. I am really low on money and short of work as I have alot of drama happening in life as of lately otherwise Id buy a new controller board........

It is funny how you mention that walking away and coming back later and then things work or you notice something obvious you were missing b4........ That is soooo true and happens sooo often. There is a word I like called Scetoma. It's meaning is something just like you described.......

Scetoma:
(Psychology) psychol a mental blind spot; inability to understand or perceive certain matters

@xpyerr I agree and wish I could get it going. The connections have all been gone over. Several times...... Been taken apart and put back together several times in hopes. Tried different routers. Tried different subnets and networks. Does not show up on router or when using Angry IP Scanner

On the ethernet port both the green and yellow lights light steady if I remember correct. There is a set of status Led's though that used to light up when booting. They are next to the ethernet port but not part of the ethernet port. They nolonger light if I remember correct. If I remember correct, they used to light up yellow when it was booting and then once it started hashing, they would light to green. Nothing happens to those lights any longer when booting up. I have even tried using the SD card method to try booting and to try recovery. Neither worked and no status lights either when trying to boot from SD card. The only lights that light are the 2 ethernet lights/LEDs.

I am under the impression that when trying to boot using an SD card, the yellow status lights should blink. I get nothing. I have tried different SD cards as well as tried writing the boot and recovery images to the SD cards using different PC's........

I have yet to try the hair dryer/heat gun trick to try heating the unit up to operating temp and then try powering it on.......

Spondoolies wants me to contact their tech support but they are only available using skype for like 2 hours a day on weekdays.

Here is the front and back pics of the controller. The controller is about the size of my hand.
